Movies On Demand Giveaway!

After a few weeks respite from Mother Nature’s winter fury, the city got a couple inches of snow last night. Luckily, today is President’s Day so the boys and I spent the day watching movies. Big D and I never get out to the theater (mmm, do YOU want Baby D babbling in your ear and throwing Good N’ Plenty pieces?) And, even though this is New York City, we don’t have a video store near our apartment. Enter: Movies On Demand.

It’s every movie lover’s favorite part of the year – Awards Season!  In order to gear up for the awards this year, we plan on checking out the nominees from the comfort of our home. Most importantly, we can watch instantly and have the ability to pause (for bottle refills), rewind (for huh? What’d he say?) and fast forward (oh! That’s what he said!)

Here are some of the Nominees currently available on Movies On Demand:

You can find this content within your On Demand on-screen menus:

To celebrate, Movies On Demand on Cable has just launched a brand new app on their Facebook page called “How Many Have You Seen?” which lets film fans keep track of all the nominated films they’ve seen – and which ones they need to see. You could even win a 3D HDTV for the family just for picking out all the nominees you’ve seen!

Yoplait Frozen Smoothie Prize Pack Review and Giveaway

Remember when I praised Big D for making smoothies for me throughout my pregnancy? I craved the fruity, frozen, creamy goodness so much then. And now. We used to buy fruit (and hope the other five bananas didn't rot in our 150 degree apartment), buy ice (ice trays? Big D never refills them) and buy yogurt to whip them up. Lately, I've been drinking smoothies to give me an energy boost before my cardio workouts (i.e. chasing Baby D for about an hour).

Enter Yoplait Smoothies. Delicious AND takes out all the work. Too bad Big D didn't know about these back then. Luckily, I discovered and LOVE them...and they are super easy for me to make. While Baby D is yelling for my return at the kitchen safety gate. A couple minutes and we're both enjoying the fruity delight.

Since I'm watching my caloric intake, I'm happy to report that each package of Yoplait Frozen Smoothies contains one full serving of fruit (1/2 cup) and 110 to 120 calories per serving. It also has live and active cultures (sweet!).

Buy It!

You can find Yoplait Smoothies in the frozen fruit aisle at the grocery store. Be sure to check out the newest flavor, Blueberry Pomegranate (my favorite), or Triple Berry, Strawberry Banana, and Strawberry Mango Pineapple.

Win It!

Prize pack includes: VIP coupon to try Yoplait Frozen Smoothies, a drawstring backpack, a water bottle and a fitness journal.

Answer this question in the comments: How do you plan on living more nutritiously this year?

1-800-Flowers Book Review and Giveaway!

My number one gift for my friends and family is a good book. You can throw it in your bag, take it on the subway and read it while you’re waiting…well, everywhere. Inspirational books top my list of favorites because they make you smile AND give you great material for your own homemade greeting cards.

Celebrating Love: Share, Remember, Cherish follows Celebrating Mom in a new gift series from 1-800-flowers.com and Celebrations.com founder Jim McCann.

McCann balances the practical with the inspirational, and the poignant with the profound, inside this collection of authentic love stories. Full-color drawings illustrate the book throughout and are sprinkled with meaningful quotes and interesting facts about love and affection. The book is divided into four sections based on the distinct seasons of love.

Bonus Giveaway: If you share a love note on 1-800-flowers.com's Facebook, you’ll be entered to win a FREE Bouquet! This ends on February 14th 12:00 PM ET. So move your tush and get your entry in HERE.

Overheard: The Day Care Parking Lot

Little Girls: Your baby is really cute! What's his name?

Me: Thank you. His name is Baby D.

Little Girls' Mom: Is that your baby?

Me: Yes. With a proud smile.

Little Girls' Mom: But he's white.

Me: Well, this is the one they gave us at the hospital.

I guess there are some adults who aren't smarter than a five grader.

Bad Food Hangover

I have absolutely had enough of the delicious but terrible-for-you foods associated with watching football. I'm happy that the season is over. The button on my pants agrees. Keeping an eye on my own intake is hard enough. Add Baby D's nutritional needs and its a full time job.

While I tried to replace with regular Cheerios every cheese curl that Baby D stealthily snatched from the snack table during the Big Game, I couldn't catch each one. By the time I got him to bed, his little fingers were covered in neon orange cheese dust. Nutrition fail.  Fortunately, I prepared a flavorful chicken soup with winter root vegetables for him to enjoy tomorrow. I figure beginning the week with one hot homemade meal will motivate me to keep it up for the rest of the week.

Its going to be a long week.

Wordless Wednesday - Thursday Edition

Remember this? We got tired of people asking how old she is.

Flirting with the receptionist.
Oblivious to what will befall him shortly.

What are those sharp silver things?
And why are they coming closer?
Oh. Its like getting your hair combed.

 With RAZORS.

Is this cut boyish enough for you? Ay yo!
